Guelph’s first McDonald’s could be torn down next year

Something new could be coming to the site of the city’s first McDonald’s.

According to an application submitted to Guelph’s committee of adjustment, the owner of the properties at 735 and 737 Woolwich St. is proposing to tear down the existing buildings.

In their place would be a three-storey commercial building, which would house an office, a restaurant and a daycare.

To accommodate the increased activity on the two properties, which would be consolidated, the owner is also proposing to include more than 150 parking spots, the majority of which appear to be underground, according to a sketch of the property included with the application…
